American fugitive found living in Tulum extradited to face charges of offences against minors

Tulum, Q.R. — An American fugitive located living in Tulum has been extradited to the U.S. Authorities say the man was wanted in the state of Arizona for serious offences against minors.

In compliance with a request for cooperation issued by the U.S. Marshals Service, authorities in Quintana Roo located and arrested 48-year-old Justin “N”.

According to Raciel López Salazar, the State Attorney General (FGE), the foreign national was wanted for multiple serious crimes committed in Arizona. During a press conference Monday, the FGE said Justin “N” had an outstanding arrest warrant in Maricopa County.

A judge from the U.S. Superior Court had issued a warrant for his arrest for dangerous sexual conduct with a minor and other crimes against children including the recruitment of a minor for sexual exploitation and obscene acts against a minor.

Following the corresponding investigations, members of the Quintana Roo Investigative Police, in coordination with the National Migration Institute (INM), proceeded with his arrest.

The individual was subsequently turned over to the INM to continue the administrative process before being handed over to U.S. authorities for his official extradition.

The crimes for which he has been accused were committed on U.S. soil. Authorities emphasized that his arrest and subsequent extradition is part of international cooperation efforts to apprehend individuals wanted for high-impact crimes.
