Cancun, Q.R. — Two men accused of extorting a Cancun business of 20,000 a month have been charged. Jorge Francisco “N” and Marcos Isay “N” have been charged with aggravated extortion and making threats.
According to police, both are accused of belonging to a criminal group. Jorge Francisco “N” is being investigated for threatening the employees of a business in SM 74. Police say “he asked to speak with the managers and demanded payment of 5,000 pesos per week for “right of way”.
“Later, as two employees were approaching the establishment, the suspects, driving a red Aveo, approached them and ordered them to stop. At that moment, Jorge Francisco “N” showed them a firearm and again demanded the amount previously requested, warning that if they didn’t accept it, they would attack the business, regardless of who was there,” authorities reported.
During their hearings, Jorge Francisco “N” and Marcos Isay “N” were charged with aggravated extortion and placed under the precautionary measure of preventive detention for a term of two years.
