Tulum, Q.R. — An abandoned vehicle found left on the side of a Tulum highway has been seized. Police seized the vehicle after finding tactical gear, firearm magazines, live cartridges and drugs.
The vehicle was found Friday morning “badly parked” on a section of highway northwest of the town of Tulum. Agents conducting crime surveillance tours reported finding the vehicle with its doors left open on the Nuevo Durango-Cobá highway.
Upon inspection, police found the illegal items inside the Nissan hatchback.
The vehicle was secured and towed by Investigative Police in coordination with elements of the National Defense Secretariat and Municipal Police.
“The seizure took place on the Nuevo Durango-Cobá highway, in this municipality, when agents were conducting surveillance patrols near the Nuevo Durango ejido, and observed a Nissan brand truck, which was badly parked, with the doors open, in front of a green area,” police reported.
“Upon approaching to conduct the corresponding inspection, they noticed that on the passenger seat and the rear seats, there were doses of green and dry herb similar to marijuana, as well as solid brown material, with the characteristics of the narcotic known as moly.
“Also inside the vehicle they found tactical clothing, firearm magazines and live cartridges, so the officers proceeded to secure the vehicle, as well as everything inside it.

“Both the vehicle and the other evidence secured were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to be included in the investigation file opened for this case.”
