Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen attended to a fire reported started inside what appeared to be abandoned buildings. City firemen were alerted to the billowing of thick black smoke by area residents Monday.
The Cancun Fire Department reported arriving at the scene to a fire that had spread to multiple adjoined buildings. Once inside, they located trash and other debris burning.

The buildings were found vacant, however, two people near the scene of the fire required pre-hospital care, the Department said.
On Monday afternoon, “Cancun Firefighters responded to a fire inside buildings that appeared to be abandoned in the city,” the Cancun Fire Department reported.
“Upon arrival, personnel found burning trash and debris. They initiated firefighting, removal, and cooling operations, successfully controlling the fire and eliminating risks in the area. Ventilation efforts were also carried out to dissipate the accumulated smoke.
“No one was found inside the building.
“During the response, two people near the scene received pre-hospital care for nervous shock. They are reported to be stable and did not require transport to a hospital.

“We remind the public to avoid abandoning buildings with accumulated trash, as these represent a significant fire risk. In case of any emergency, report it immediately to 911. To Serve and Protect!”
