7-Eleven announces plans to build 224 new stores across Quintana Roo

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Convenience store chain 7-Eleven says they are planning to build hundreds of additional locations cross the state. The new stores will be built in Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Tulum, Cozumel and Isla Mujeres.

Governor Mara Lezama, accompanied by the Secretary of Economic Development, Paul Carrillo and executives of the 7-Eleven company, reported on the investment plan Thursday.

The project includes the opening of 224 new stores in municipalities such as Solidaridad, Benito Juárez, Tulum, Cozumel and Isla Mujeres which will generate 1,830 direct jobs and nearly 3,500 indirect jobs.

“I find it extraordinary that 52 percent of the staff are women,” said Lezama. “There are currently one hundred 7-Eleven stores in the state and they are planning to build 224 more,” she said.

During the investment presentation, Mara Lezama was accompanied by the Manager of Institutional Relations of 7-Eleven, Sharon Camacho Ronquillo, the Director of the Mexico Peninsula Division, Juan Carlos Macías Elizondo, as well as other executives and employees of the commercial firm.

Secretary Paul Carrillo de Cáceres expressed his gratitude to 7-Eleven for choosing Quintana Roo for this important expansion project.

“Rest assured and have confidence that your investments are safe in Quintana Roo, because we are committed to economic growth, job creation and the well-being of our people,” he said.

The creation of more than 5,300 jobs, together with the opening of a distribution center (CEDIS) that is planned to open in 2028, reflect the state’s potential for economic growth.

Lezama said in addition, this plan is part of the Governor’s strategy to consolidate Quintana Roo as one of the most dynamic states in terms of investment and employment.

This significant announcement reinforces the state government’s commitment to generating an environment of trust for businesses and continuing to work hand in hand with the private and public sectors to attract more investments and create jobs that benefit the people of Quintana Roo.
