León, Guanajuato — A woman wanted for defrauding American vacation property owners in Mexico has been extradited. The woman was handed over to U.S. officials for her return to the U.S. where she will face a string of charges.

According to the State Attorney of the Republic (FGR), the Government of Mexico granted the extradition request of Martha “J” to the Government of the United States for her return to the federal District Court of Colombia, Washington.
She was arrested in October of 2023 in the Mexican state of Guanajuato on charges of criminal association, fraud, identity theft and money laundering. She was held in Mexican prison more than two years while her extradition paperwork was processed.
In a statement, the FGR reported that “Martha “J”, as part of a criminal organization, defrauded people residing in the United States who owned vacation properties in Mexico, for approximately 527 million pesos.
“She was arrested in October 2023 in León, Guanajuato. Subsequently, the Mexican government granted her extradition and she was handed over at the Mexico City International Airport to the agents designated for her transfer.”
