Viva Aerobus says only their AIFA flights affected by recent DOT order

Mexico City, Mexico — Viva Aerobus says all current routes and flights to and from the United States continue to operate normally. The airline says that includes flights originating from and destined for Mexico City International Airport (MEX).

The only operations recently affected are those between Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) (NLU) and the United States and vice versa. The changes are due to order DOT-OST-2025-0436 (2025-10-13), issued unilaterally by the United States Government on October 28.

Affected routes:

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Los Angeles (LAX)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Chicago (ORD)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Orlando (MCO)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Austin (AUS)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Denver (DEN)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Houston (IAH)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – Miami (MIA)

Mexico City AIFA (NLU) – New York (JFK)

Applies to round-trip flights.

In relation to the recent order DOT-OST-2025-0436 (2025-10-13) issued by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), which proposes the immediate cancellation of all new routes that were about to begin operations from Benito Juárez International Airport (AICM) and Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) to the United States, Viva Aerobus wishes to inform the following:

We are carefully evaluating the impact of this order on our operations and on transportation services for all our passengers in order to inform them promptly and minimize any disruptions.

We trust in the dialogue between our government authorities and their counterparts in the United States to find a reasonable solution to this conflict and minimize the impact on passengers.

While this is happening, we are in constant communication with the relevant authorities, both in Mexico and the United States, as well as with the industry, in order to fully understand the scope of this decision and urging them to reach an immediate solution to avoid further disruptions in this important sector for both nations.

The measure announced by the U.S. government affects Viva flights that were scheduled to begin operations departing from the new Mexico City Airport (AIFA) starting in November: This includes the cities of Los Angeles, Chicago, Orlando, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Miami, and New York.

Flights currently operating from other airports in the country and AICM to the United States are not affected.
