Tulum, Q.R. — More than 6,000 American tourists are expected to land at the Tulum Mexico Airport this week after the start of international routes. As of Thursday, the recently inaugurated airport expanded into international air.
Both American and Delta airlines landed at the airport Thursday with direct flights from the U.S. The Tulum airport is now connected with direct flights from Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas and Miami.
“The Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport of Tulum received its first international flights from four important U.S. cities Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas and Miami,” Governor Mara Lezama said.
On March 28, American Airlines landed with the first-ever international flight from Dallas/Ft. Worth followed by a flight by Delta Airlines.
“With these new connections, more than 6,160 weekly passengers will have the opportunity to experience Mayan culture, tradition, gastronomy and the extraordinary natural beauty that the center and south of the Mexican Caribbean offers,” said Mara Lezama.
As of March 31, United is scheduled to being offering non-stop flights between the U.S. and the Tulum International Airport (TQO) with 22 weekly flights from Newark/New York, Houston and Chicago.
