Cancun, Q.R. — Three members of a criminal gang known for drug and extortion crimes in the Cancun Hotel Zone remain in custody. Police say Ricardo “N” alias “Perico”, Javier “N” alias “El Cachetes” and Gael Emiliano “N” alias “El Osiris” and/or “El Cruz”, are facing charges of extortion and drug possession.
According to police, Ricardo “N” was arrested during a sting operation when he arrived at a Cancun Hotel Zone beach to collect extortion money from a jet ski rental company. The company reported him for his attempt at extorting them in March.
“The incident for which Ricardo “N” was arrested occurred on the afternoon of March 23 of this year when two individuals arrived at the base of a jet ski rental company, located on a beach adjacent to Kukulcán Boulevard, in Cancun.
“These individuals told the establishment manager that they were there on behalf of “Skiny,” the leader of an extortion gang. They told him that his people would be returning and then left the manager a phone number.
“Days later, they sent the owner of the establishment a message via WhatsApp requesting, on behalf of “Skiny,” that he “support” them with the payments for three months and that after that, “they would not bother them again.”
“In response to the jet ski owner report, members of the Investigative Police, attached to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Kidnapping and Extortion Crimes, implemented an operation that resulted in the arrest of Ricardo “N” in flagrante delicto.”

The leader of “Skiny” was captured in the city of Merida and charged with extortion of Cancun businesses in October 2024. Police also reported that Zacarías “N”, alias “Skiny”, is being investigated for his involvement in several homicides that occurred in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
Police say field and office investigations allowed elements of the Investigative Police to locate the whereabouts of Javier “N” and Gael Emiliano “N”, who at the time of their arrest, had among their belongings doses of narcotics. They are also being investigated for extortion crimes.
