Mexico City, Mexico — A meeting between Mexico and U.S. Departments of Transportation has resulted in agreed improvements. The meeting took place within the framework of the Memorandum of mutual recognition of licenses between the Federal Administration for Motor Carrier Safety and the General Directorate of Federal Motor Transport of both governments.
The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) and the United States Department of Transportation agreed to review and improve the processes for issuing and consulting commercial licenses for drivers of border trucking.
Representatives of both agencies met in Mexico City where they agreed to create a bilateral working group to monitor cross-border trucking between Mexico and the United States, which will contribute to verifying the documentation carried by drivers of border trucking.
In addition, special attention will be given to the protocols for generating information in the event of eventualities in the operation of cross-border motor transport to strengthen road safety and the operation of consultation systems.
