Quintana Roo man wanted for murder in Jalisco captured in Yucatan

Merida, Yucatan — A Quintana Roo man wanted for murder in the state of Jalisco has been arrested by Yucatan police. On Monday, investigative agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), said they executed an arrest warrant against Luis Arturo “N” from the state of Quintana Roo.

His arrest was made in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Yucatán (FGE) and Jalisco as well as with federal forces.

“The individual is the likely perpetrator of the crimes of aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide committed in the state of Jalisco, for which he had been wanted since 2023,” the SSP reported.

According to the investigation, the events occurred on November 30, 2023, in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, when several people were gathered to finalize the sale of a pickup truck.

“Several armed individuals arrived at the scene and, without saying a word, opened fire on the victims, killing two people and seriously injuring two others.

“After the attack, the perpetrators fled and an investigation was launched. This investigation identified the now-detained individual as one of the likely perpetrators, who remained at large until being located in Yucatán through joint efforts between state authorities,” the SSP Yucatán reported in a statement.

Luis Arturo “N”, a cleaning and upholstery worker, has since been extradited to the state of Jalisco to face charges.

“The Public Security Secretariat reaffirms its commitment to maintaining ongoing collaboration with prosecutors and authorities in other states to ensure that high-impact crimes do not go unpunished, regardless of where perpetrators attempt to evade justice,” they said.
