Nichupté vehicular bridge nearing 75 percent completion

Cancun, Q.R. — The long awaited construction of the Nichupté vehicular bridge over the lagoon is nearing completion. Governor Mara Lezama says the mega construction project is 74 percent advanced.

Lezama says 6.4 kilometers of the total 8.8 kilometers that will be the finished bridge project is already done.

“The Nichupté vehicular bridge has a physical progress of 74.6 percent which represents 6.40 kilometers of a total of 8.8, with three lanes,” she reported. “Two for traffic and one reversible lane, two interchanges, one bicycle lane and a lighting system,” she detailed.

“The Nichupté Vehicular Bridge will be essential to improve connectivity with the hotel zone of Cancun. It is an environmentally friendly project because it includes the protection of mangroves,” said Governor Lezama.

Lezama says the project generates 10,306 direct jobs and 41,224 indirect jobs, which contributes to bringing shared prosperity and well-being to workers with higher incomes.

Mara Lezama highlighted the importance of project to improve Cancun’s infrastructure so that Quintana Roo residents, visitors and tourists can move around with ease along a road that will become an icon of Cancun.

Lezama did not say when they expect the bridge to become operational.
