New electronic visas makes traveling to Cancun and Riviera Maya easier for Brazilians

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — On February 5, 2026, the electronic visa for Brazilian nationals came into effect across Mexico. In times of profound global transformation, Mexico and Brazil are building bridges under a vision of cooperation and well-being for their people.

Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama said the electronic visa will allow Brazilian tourists to visit the Mexican Caribbean for up to 180 days. Governor Lezama announced that with the new digital visa, Brazilian tourists will find it easier to to travel to Quintana Roo.

Mara Lezama emphasized that the electronic visa facilitates mobility, reduces waiting times at airports and improves connectivity, strengthening the bilateral relationship between Mexico and Brazil.

On Wednesday, she invited Brazilian tourists to consult the official pages of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to start the online visa process. The new process is the result of efforts between the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of the Interior and the National Institute of Migration and with technical support from the Agency for Digital Transformation and Telecommunications.

The system also represents a milestone in the modernization of public services in Mexico, as it is the first 100% digital procedure carried out abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that in accordance with current Mexican immigration regulations, the electronic visa system for nationals of the Federative Republic of Brazil who intend to enter Mexico under the condition of visitor stay began operation on February 5.

This travel facilitation measure honors the commitment announced by the governments of Mexico and Brazil to facilitate the movement of their nationals between both territories in an agile, safe, orderly and regular manner.

The electronic visa does not substitute for or replace the consular visa. Brazilian nationals may continue to process their visitor visa without permission to engage in remunerated activities at any of Mexico’s consular offices abroad.

This visa allows multiple entries, is valid for up to 180 days or up to 10 years, and is required for entry into Mexico by sea or land.

The electronic visa makes a significant contribution to the goal set out in the Mexico Plan to position the country as the fifth most visited in the world by 2030.

At the same time, it is a fundamental step in encouraging business and strengthening business, academic and cultural ties between the two most important countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of population, territory, and economy, with the corresponding potential for regional integration that this implies.
