Jalisco, Mexico — Personnel from the Navy of Mexico have seized another 1.5 tons of cocaine, this time off the coast of Jalisco. This latest seizure adds to the nearly 40 tons of cocaine located at sea this year.

In a coordinated maritime operation led by elements of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), personnel made the transfer of nearly 1.5 tons of suspected cocaine off the coast of Jalisco.
The operation took place off the coast of the state of Jalisco during maritime and air patrols. Mexican Navy vessels and air units participated in the operation, locating 38 packages containing 1,500 packages of suspected cocaine weighing approximately 1,500 kilograms.
Therefore, the seized drugs were handed over to the competent authorities for the purpose of completing the corresponding investigation.
With this seizure, approximately 40 tons of cocaine have been seized at sea so far this administration. The seizure represents approximately three million doses and an economic impact of 362,812,500 pesos.

These actions are part of the maritime, air, and land surveillance operations carried out by the Secretariat of the Navy through the Mexican Navy in national waters, to inhibit criminal activity and guarantee and maintain the rule of law in Mexican Marine Zones.
