More than 350 Quintana Roo real estate agents certified to provide buyers with verified ownership in real time

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — More than 350 state registered Quintana Roo real estate agents have been certified in real-time title searches. The group of trained agents were presented with their certificates Wednesday by the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus).

According to Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama, 357 registered real estate agents have been trained to provide legal certainty to buyers. The agents participated in a five hour class where they learned to verify propery titles and legal ownership for prospective buyers in real time.

Governor Lezama said the certification means the state registered real estate agents can provide honest, professional services.

“This means we are fighting corruption with a different kind of government, moving away from the practices that normalized the idea that anyone could deceive anyone and where dishonest practices could be exploited under previous administrations,” she explained.

The certificates were presented Wednesday during the SEDETUS 2025 Real Estate Professionalization Forum. The forum was held with the aim of strengthening the professional practice of the real estate sector in the state.

The forum was led by the Secretaría de Desarrollo Territorial Urbano Sustentable (Sedetus), headed by José Alberto Alonso Ovando and was attended by state authorities, academic representatives, business chambers and industry associations.

During the ceremony, 357 certificates were presented to real estate agents with current state registration. Alonso Ovando said all 357 received five-hour training focused on state website use to validate the legality of properties in real time.

“This training will help prevent fraud and ensure regulatory compliance,” he said.

The real estate agents were trained in validating state propety information through government websites that include the Territorial Management Platform managed by the State Geographic and Cadastral Institute, the Quintana Roo Real Estate System (SIQROO) and the Citizen Portal of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce, as well as the Territorial Logbook developed by Sedetus.

The class of 357 were certified Wednesday.

Lezama said the initiative promoted by Sedetus represents a fundamental step forward in ensuring legal certainty, territorial planning and citizen trust, key elements for the balanced development of Quintana Roo.

She emphasized that the professionalization of the real estate sector not only protects families’ assets but also encourages responsible, transparent and socially focused investment.

The professional development workshop complied with Article 16 of the Real Estate Services Provision Law of the State of Quintana Roo which establishes ongoing training as a requirement for obtaining and renewing real estate registration.

Licensed real estate agents can be looked up online through any AMPI website.

Since 2022, the Secretariat of Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus) has trained more than 4,000 real estate advisors throughout the state. Despite state efforts, there are still hundreds of untrained and unregistered people conducting real estate business throughout the state of Quintana Roo.
