Mexico returns wanted fugitive to U.S. to face charges for 2006 murder

Mexico City, Mexico — A Mexican national wanted in California for the 2006 murder of a citizen has been extradited. On Thursday, the government of Mexico handed José “R” over to U.S. marshals for his return to California.

According to the State Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), his return was in compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States.

According to the FGR, they extradited “a fugitive of Mexican nationality wanted by the Superior Court of the State of California, in Sacramento County, for the crime of homicide.

“José “R” took the life of a person in Sacramento in 2006. After the FGR’s efforts, the Mexican Government granted his extradition to the United States Government.

“He was handed over at Mexico City International Airport (AICM) to U.S. agents for his transfer back to that country to face criminal charges.”
