Government working to regularize more than 100 hectares of illegally occupied land in Tulum, Mahahual

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The government of Quintana Roo is working on regularizing more than 100 hectares of illegally occupied land in the south. Governor Mara Lezama says her government is working to regularize more than 70 hectares illegally occupied in Tulum and 40 in Mahahual.

Once the land is regularized, those living on it will be provided with legal titles. The Strategic Projects Agency (Agepro) has more than 700 files that have been registered in Tulum alone.

“In order to grow in an orderly manner, we are working on land regularization,” Lezama said. She reported in Mahahual, the Agencia de Proyectos Estratégicos del Estado de Quintana Roo (Agepro) has also acted as an intermediary between the occupants and owners of private lands, facilitating the signing of sales contracts, which guarantees an orderly and transparent process.

Since the beginning of her administration, “the orderly and sustainable growth of communities has been contemplated with the objective of settling a historical debt and guaranteeing that each family has access to efficient public services,” she explained.

Lezama says once the properties are regularized, the occupants will be able to have electricity, drinking water and drainage services in a safe and legal manner.”
