Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The Government of Quintana Roo has delivered 334 patrol units to the police of Playa del Carmen. The units include support equipment, motorcycles, specialized vehicles, a tactical armored vehicle and a helicopter.

Governor Mara Lezama led the weekend ceremony for the delivery of the police vehicles to the Municipal Citizen Security Secretariat (SSCM) of Playa del Carmen along with Mayor Estefanía Mercado.
The Governor emphasized that the delivery of these units represents much more than a material investment, but symbolizes the unwavering commitment to the peace and tranquility of the people of Playa del Carmen and Quintana Roo.
“We share a clear vision: security is a fundamental human right and a shared responsibility. I recognize Estefanía Mercado’s extraordinary work as this investment reflects her determination to strengthen security in Playa del Carmen,” Lezama said.
She reiterated her government’s commitment to following the national strategy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum through the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, headed by Omar García Harfuch.

She also emphasized that there are no magic formulas or instant solutions for peacebuilding and that based on the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, work is being done daily at security committees with all levels of government and with the participation of civil society.
During the weekend presentation, Mara Lezama let the public know that they are not alone in the task of peacebuilding, that they have a Governor and a Mayor.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the armed forces. Mayor Estefanía Mercado said the new units were a historic investment of 1.2 billion pesos. She said there will be ongoing training for officers, 100 new positions will be created in the first half of the year, and four ambulances will be put into service free of charge to the public.
