First direct Panama flight lands at Tulum International

Tulum, Q.R. — Copa Airlines landed at the Tulum International Airport Wednesday with its first direct Panama flight. After landing, the Copa Air Lines flight passed under the traditional water arch. Governor Mara Lezama was on hand for the landing and accompanied by several state and Copa Airline representatives.

The Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport of Tulum has already recorded more than half a million passengers in its first six months in 4,330 operations. In just one week it registered 236 operations, 146 international and 90 national flights, Governor Lezama reported.

The new route represents an opportunity to attract more visitors to Quintana Roo destinations, since it offers connectivity with seven cities in Brazil, four in Argentina and 10 in Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay, she said.

Mara Lezama referred to it as a historic day for Quintana Roo since the new route not only marks a milestone in air connectivity, but also opens the doors to more than 60 destinations in Latin America that will have the opportunity to know and enjoy the entire state through the Maya Train.

“This is precisely the objective of the New Era of Tourism in Quintana Roo, to open the doors to the world through a sustainable, inclusive activity, but above all that prosperity is shared with our people.

“That is also the spirit of the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, so that no one is left out and no one is left behind and the benefits of tourist success generate well-being and economic growth,” explained the Governor.
