FGR reports dismantling of child porn ring that spanned Costa Rica, Mexico and the U.S.

Mexico City, Mexico — The FGR says it has dismantled a transnational criminal organization of human trafficking that spanned across Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States.

The Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) says through the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor for Organized Crime (FEMDO) and in coordination with authorities of the Republic of Costa Rica, they were able to dismantle a transnational criminal organization dedicated to child pornography.

The agency says that the criminal organization produced sexual images and videos involving minors. They then marketed the images and videos with child pornography content through various internet sites around the world.

In their statement, the FGR explained that since 2011, the victims were deceived through a modeling agency façade through companies incorporated in the Republic of Costa Rica and the United States.

In October 2016, the investigation began, derived from the complaint made through Interpol Mexico, by the National Central Office of the Republic of Costa Rica, in which they report that they detected various people in Mexico dedicated to the manufacturing, trade and dissemination of child pornographic content through Internet sites.

Since the investigation, five people have been sentenced from 25 years in prison to 42 years. The Public Ministry of the Federation sentenced Rafael “Z” to 42 years and six months, Blanca “Z”, Lidia “G”, Marlon “A” were all sentenced to 32 years and six months in prison, while for Pedro “R” was sentenced to 25 years for trafficking in persons and producing, marketing and profiting from exploitation.
