Port of Veracruz, Veracruz — Federal officials made a 3.2 ton pot bust in the Port of Veracruz Thursday. The load of marijuana was discovered hidden inside plaster table leg bases.
A total of 22 pallets were marked positive for an illegal substance by narcotics dogs. An inspection of the pallets and subsequent plaster table legs lead authorities to the discovery.
According to Guardia Nacional, more than 3.2 tons of marijuana was found hidden inside the plaster. The discovery was made at the Maritime Customs in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Navy-Army of Mexico (Semar).
In a statement, the State Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) reported seizing approximately 3.2 tons of marijuana at the Maritime Customs located in the Port of Veracruz.
“The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) initiated an investigation after elements of the FGR, in coordination with the Semar and the support of canine teams, managed to secure 22 pallets in which a total of 154 plaster bases for the preparation of tables were found.
“Inside, 1,120 packages made with adhesive tape were hidden that contained the 3.275 tons of marijuana. The mega post bust was made during an inspection of the export merchandise that was destined for the Dominican Republic and was coming from Guadalajara, Jalisco
