Mexico City, Mexico — Mexican federal officials say they have charged members of what has turned out to be a currency counterfeiting network. Official charges against the members were laid Thursday.
The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) says three people are facing charges for producing counterfeited currency in Guanajuato, Veracruz and Hidalgo.
“According to the investigation, elements of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) and experts from the Federal Forensic Expert Center (CFPF) in addition to personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), carried out simultaneous searches in properties located in Guanajuato, Veracruz and Hidalgo.
“As a result, José “P” was arrested in Apaseo el Alto, Guanajuato after being found in possession of sheets with prints of counterfeit bills of various denominations and a printer to print them,” the FGR said in a statement.

In Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Christian “A” was arrested with pieces of counterfeit money of various denominations. Two cell phones and a laptop were seized.
In Francisco I. Madero, Hidalgo, Dionicio “C” was arrested and a laptop, two cell phones, counterfeit currency, authentic U.S. dollars, two firearms, 16 cartridges and three magazines of various calibers were seized, the FGR reported.

All three are currently being held in separate prisons. José “P” is in the Social Readaptation Center number 12 “CPS Guanajuato”, while Christian “A” was placed in the “Duport Ostión” Social Rehabilitation Center in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. Dionicio “C” will remain in the Social Rehabilitation Center (CERESO) in Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo.
