Cozumel, Q.R. — Approximately 117,000 passengers are expected to visit the island of Cozumel in coming days. The island began receiving the mass flow of visitors Monday with the arrival of 14,642 passengers on five ships.

According to the Administración Portuaria Integral de Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), a total of 35 cruise ships are scheduled to dock the island between February 24 and March 2.
Cozumel Mayor José Luis Chacón Méndez says he maintains his commitment to the tourism sector by continuing with strategies that strengthen the economy of Cozumel society and its well-being.
“Teamwork has been key to Cozumel remaining one of the most prominent tourist destinations. It is an honor to lead the arrival of cruise ships and a pleasure to welcome tourists who choose our island to enjoy it. We will continue to promote tourism to guarantee direct benefits to the families of our community,” he said.
On Tuesday, eight ships will dock with island, arriving with 19,838 guests. On Wednesday, five ships with an estimated 22,884 visitors are expected, while on Thursday 16,977 tourists will arrive.
On Friday, according to Apiqroo arrivals program, 23,207 passengers will disembark from six ships during stop over on their Western Caribbean cruise route.

Four ships with 10,888 people are expected to arrive on Saturday and another 8,665 on Sunday, according to estimated data from the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA).
