Cozumel, Q.R. — State officials have seized a plot of Cozumel land being sold with forged documents. Personnel from the Strategic Projects Agency of the State of Quintana Roo (Agepro) seized the property in coordination with the State Attorney General (FGE) of the state.
On Wednesday, the FGE (Fiscalía General del Estado) said they seized the Cozumel property after reports of forgery and use of false documents that date back to December of 2023.
The seizure of the property is the result of an exhaustive investigation that led to the identification of falsified documents used to illegally claim ownership of state land.
The General Director of Agencia de Proyectos Estratégicos del Estado de Quintana Roo (Agepro), José Alberto Alonso Ovando, said the seizure is an example of the government’s commitment to transparency regarding state property.
“The protection of Quintana Roo’s heritage is a priority. We will not allow illegal acts to compromise the assets that belong to citizens. This action is an example of the state government’s commitment to guarantee legality and transparency in the management of state lands,” he said.
The plot of land was seized by state officials, which, he says, reinforces the protection of assets belonging to the people of Quintana Roo, guaranteeing that they are used in a legal and transparent manner.
