Continuous U.S. winter storms cause dozens of flight cancellations into Cancun International

Cancun, Q.R. — Continuous winter storms across the U.S. have caused over 50 Cancun-bound flights to be cancelled in two days. Across the country, over 7,000 U.S. flights have been canceled and thousands more delayed due to the weather.

U.S. flights bound for Cancun have also been affected by the strong winter storm that is moving through the northeastern U.S. The bad weather has affected all major U.S. carriers.

On Monday, 29 flights were reported canceled at the Cancun Airport due to bad U.S. weather, reported ASUR, the Southeast Airport Group that manages the airport.

According to their report, the airlines affected included Spirit Airlines, JetBlue and American Airlines. The American cities affected Monday with flights in and out of Cancun were Baltimore, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Newark and Philadelphia.

On Tuesday, another 25 U.S. flights destined for Cancun International were cancelled. Sun and sand flights by United Airlines, JetBlue, American Airlines and Air Canada were affected.

The cancelled and delayed flights caused disruptions on New York, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Newark, Phoenix, Tampa and Fort Lauderdale routes.

Airlines are recommending travelers check travel updates at airports in the United States and Canada. Authorities say the disruptions are likely to persist for several days as the bad weather continues.
