Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The new government of Solidaridad will sign agreements to open at least two federal offices in Playa del Carmen. In a city council meeting last week, council members voted in favor of opening a Profeco and SRE liaison office.
The city will sign a collaboration agreement with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) to have the services for Solidaridad residents.
Council members unanimously approved the agreements, authorizing Mayor Estefanía Mercado and other local authorities to sign the federal agreements.
The municipal government will sign an agreement with Profeco (Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor) so the municipality of Solidaridad will have a representative office. Profeco is a federal agency that guarantees and protects the rights of consumers.
Furthermore, the City Council will also sign an administrative collaboration agreement for the establishment and operation of the Municipal Liaison Office with the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE), which will facilitate passport processing and other services.
That new liaison office will also help to serve tourists and residents in Cozumel and Tulum.
Councilor Nellyadi Anaiza Quian Medina said “this service is important because it facilitates the issuance of passports, eliminating many procedures and saving time and money for the families of Solidaridad, in addition to supporting those who come from Cozumel, Tulum and other nearby municipalities.”
