Mexico City, Mexico — A Chinese national arrested in Mexico City has been extradited to the the U.S. from Mexico City. On Thursday, Zhi Dong “N” was returned to the U.S. where he will face money laundering, narcotics and criminal association charges.
Zhi Dong “N” was arrested in Mexico City on October 31 and held by Mexican authorities for extradition purposes. According to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR), “his arrest was carried out as a result of the exchange of information between security institutions and coordinated investigative work between the Secretariat of Public Safety and Citizen Protection, the Secretariat of the Mexican Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense and the Attorney General’s Office.”
Zhi Dong “N” was served with an arrest warrant for extradition purposes for his probable responsibility in drug related crimes as well as criminal association and operations with illicit proceeds, they said.
Zhi Dong “N” was wanted by the Federal Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Federal Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
“Zhi Dong “N”, a Chinese national, is considered the alleged leader of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking and money laundering in the United States and likely responsible for trafficking large quantities of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine from Mexico to that country for distribution and sending the profits from the sale of the drugs to Mexico,” they said in a statement.
