Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen reported attending to two city brush fires Monday that were put out without incident. One of the fires was reported along the side of the road off Kabah Avenue that was extinguished within a few minutes.

“Cancun Firefighters and Cancun Traffic responded to a fire in a green area between Tules Avenue and Kabah Avenue, heading west-east.” They reported that their emergency services were working in the area and asked drivers to take precautions when driving due to emergency vehicles and smoke.
Two city firemen arrived on board one truck to put it out. They were assisted by Municipal Police. The fire is reported to have been the result of an illegal garbage burn.
Several hours later, Cancun firemen were called to a second blaze. Approximately one hectare of green area in SM 305 burned before that fire was considered out.
Cancun Firefighters “are working to control a fire in a green area on SM 305. No injuries have been reported so far. Our personnel continue to work in the area in coordination with other authorities to control the fire and protect the community,” they said Monday evening.

“We thank the public for their understanding and support,” Bomberos Cancun reported Monday afternoon.
After fully extinguishing the fire, authorities said the fire consumed approximately one hectare of green space and a log cabin near Region 305. No injuries have been reported. The cause for the second fire was not reported.
