Cancun, Q.R. — Although Beryl has long left the Yucatan Peninsula, the system continues to affect the state of Quintana Roo. On Monday, five Houston flights into Cancun were canceled due to Beryl.
The system’s destruction continues as it makes its way across the southern U.S., causing airlines to cancel flights. The canceled flights were due to U.S. airlines and not the Cancun airport.
Authorities from the Cancun International Airport said the decision to cancel the Houston flights was made by the airlines since the Cancun airport is open and operating normally.
According to the daily report of Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste (ASUR), outside those five canceled flights, the Cancun airport recorded 513 operations on Monday of which 258 were international flights and 255 domestic.
