Cancun, Q.R. — Twelve Mexican women have been freed from a human trafficking ring. They were removed from a bar where they had been forced into prostitution.

Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office made the rescues during the execution of a search warrant Friday night. The search took place at a bar in SM 228 of Cancun by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes.
“Following field and office investigations, it was revealed that women were being forced into sexual services at the facility,” authorities said.
“Initial investigations indicate that the owners took advantage of the victims’ financial need due to their lack of education and their vulnerable status, given that most are single mothers,” they added.
