Chetumal, Q.R. — The Quintana Roo Park in Chetumal, known for being the site of Expofer, will add an archaeological park as a new tourist attraction. Alberto Alonso Ovando, the Director of the Strategic Projects Agency of Quintana Roo, said that this space will have 15 archaeological monuments designed to boost the tourist potential of the state capital within the framework of the operation of the Maya Train.

The project is being developed in collaboration with the Federal Government and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Alonso Ovando clarified that the park will not exhibit archaeological pieces found on the route of the Maya Train, but rather replicas of monuments from different archaeological sites in the region. He says this will allow visitors to appreciate the cultural heritage without compromising the original discoveries.
The archaeological park will be located within the space assigned to Quintana Roo Park close to the Maya Train station where one of the first relocated monuments can already be seen.
He says the new park will add another tourist offer for visitors, combining history and modernity to attract both local visitors and national and international tourists.
