Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) says interest in private hospital investments have increased. Patricia Mora Vallejo, President of AMPI Cancun says there has been an increase in interest to build hospitals in Riviera Maya, particularly along highways.
She explained that during a recent national real estate forum in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, one of the main proposals for Quintana Roo was the construction of more private hospitals.
“Two weeks ago we were in Puerto Vallarta at a very interesting forum. There was a kiosk from Quintana Roo with the Secretariat of Economic Development who was there promoting the entire state. We had several meetings in private sessions,” she said.
One of the main proposals, she said, was interest in building hospitals, hence the importance of including the state government in the forum. The potential construction of these private hospitals was with the objective of building them along highways to consolidate the connection to airports, from Tulum to Playa del Carmen and to Cancun.
“This is so that if someone has an accident along that route they won’t waste time getting to Cancun,” she said, adding that this goes hand-in-hand with medical tourism.
Mora Vallejo said that medical tourism is also being worked on from different approaches, but with special space for immediate and emergency care.
She reported that during the forum, AMPI brought all the opportunities that the destination has to offer. Several visitors expressed a lot of interest in real estate investment.
They also held meetings with other high ranking national members of the Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios (AMPI) as well as several investors who are keeping an eye on Quintana Roo to attract projects.
“It was a success story, a very successful event. Everything is in talks, but we have tasks such as starting to look for possible hospital locations. There are two or three projects that are being considered that is a joint effort with the government, civil society, AMPI and the businessmen,” she said.
