Mexico City, Mexico — After more than six months on display in Paris, Mexico’s Mexica exhibition is returning home. The exhibition was in the City of Lights during the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The exhibition was organized by the Musée du Quai Branly-Jacques Chirac (MQB-JC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and began display in April.
The temporary Mexican exhibit, Mexica: Des dons et des dieux au Templo Mayor (Mexica: offerings and gods of the Templo Mayor), was extended by one month due to its popularity.

The exhibit was set to finish its display in September, however, it was extended until October 6. “Since April, after a one-month extension, audiences from various nations have been able to learn, through almost 600 archaeological pieces, the intricacies of rituals in ancient Mexico-Tenochtitlan,” the Government of Mexico said in a statement.
More than 200,000 people came to see the Mexican pieces on display in Paris.

The pieces were on display in the Museo del Templo Mayor (MTM) and included pieces from the MQB-JC, the Museum of Anthropology and History of the State of Mexico and other venues attached to the institute from around the country.
