Cancun, Q.R. — Aer Lingus landed at Cancun International Tuesday on its new Dublin to Cancun route. Passengers landed at the airport for the airline’s inaugural flight Tuesday night.
Governor Mara Lezama said the state of Quintana Roo opened a new door to the world with the arrival of Air Lingus’ inaugural flight. The new direct Dublin to Cancun route is the Irish airline’s first operation to Mexico and a historic non-stop connection between Europe and the Mexican Caribbean.
“The arrival of this new route consolidates Cancun as the main international gateway to the country and reaffirms the confidence of the European market in the destination, its people and the tourism strength of the state,” she said.

“It is no coincidence that this first Aer Lingus flight to Mexico is landing in Cancun. It is a result of international confidence in our destination, our people and the strength of Quintana Roo’s tourism industry,” explained Mara Lezama.
She announced that the new air link will operate with three weekly frequencies using aircraft with a capacity of more than 300 passengers per flight, which will strengthen the flow of tourism from Ireland and other connection points in Europe.
Governor Lezama stated that in 2026 work on tourism will continue.
With this new route, the Mexican Caribbean expands its presence in the international market and welcomes visitors from Ireland, consolidating itself as one of the most important tourist destinations in the world.
