Cancun, Q.R. — Seven people are in custody accused of kidnapping a Cancun man. The man was rescued from a car Tuesday after the vehicle was intercepted by police on Nichupté Avenue.
Police were on the lookout for the vehicle after a 9-1-1 report of the kidnapping. While patrolling in SM 96, police saw the vehicle that matched the description. Inside the stopped vehicle they located a bloodied man and seven occupants.
The six men and one woman are accused of manipulating their way into the man’s home and subduing him before forcefully removing him from his home and into their vehicle.
“Seven people have been arrested, allegedly involved in the crime of unlawful deprivation of liberty,” police reported Wednesday.
“During preventive patrol and surveillance, officers from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) received a report through the 911 emergency line of a person allegedly deprived of their liberty. A search and location operation was launched for a white Suzuki Ertiga vehicle with state of Quintana Roo license plates.

“While driving on Nichupté Avenue, officers identified a vehicle with the described characteristics. The driver was told to stop, but he ignored them, so an intervention was carried out, successfully blocking its path on Nichupté Avenue between 121st Street and 123rd Street, in Superblock 96, in the municipality of Benito Juárez.

“As they approached the vehicle, security officers heard cries for help coming from inside. A man with traces of blood on his face stated that he was being held captive.
“Seven people were also inside the vehicle. The victim identified them as such, stating that these individuals tricked him into entering his home, subdued him, and forcibly transported him in the identified vehicle.
“The vehicle, as well as the detainees Harold “N”, Olivia “N”, Luis Ángel “N”, Raymundo “N”, Iván Alfredo “N” alias “Padrino”, and two minors identified by the initials D.F.M.P. and Y.A.S.C., were handed over to the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office for further investigation,” the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) said.
Police have not said if the kidnapping victim knew his abductors.
