Cancun, Q.R. — Thousand of residents in dozens of Cancun communities continue to deal with low water pressure due to Aguakan line work. The company has been relocating residential water lines that cross paths with Tren Maya tracks.
Aguakan says the project is in collaboration with company Ingenieros Civiles Asociados (ICA), the construction company in charge of section 4 of the Maya Train.
“The initiative arises in response to the need to modify the existing network, which is located below the tracks of the Maya Train. In this sense, the relocation and replacement will be carried out using ductile iron pipes with the purpose of preventing possible leaks and ensuring the quality of the service for the benefit of the community.
“The first stage of the reconnection work corresponding to the 32-inch line in section 3 will be carried out February 21. Later in section 4, work will be carried out with the relocation of the 32-inch line on February 28.
“During those days, low pressure or lack of water could be experienced in the areas surrounding the train as well as Central de Abastos, Bonfil, Puerto Cancún, Tourist Zone, Moon Palace, Punta Sam Condominiums, Playa Mujeres and Isla Mujeres.
“Subsequently, the relocation of the 20-inch line will be completed on March 6, affecting the Cancun Tourist Zone,” Aguakan reported.
The company is moving the water lines to avoid possible future leaks and breaks due to Tren May vibrations along its tracks. The relocation project began February 13 and is expected to be finished March 6.
