Cancun, Q.R. — A woman accused of abducting a child nearly 13 years ago has been captured in Cancun. The woman who abducted the little girl was actually located by the child’s biological mother.
María de Lourdes “N” was arrested by the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) de Quintana Roo police after they were flagged down during a patrol Monday. The woman who stopped the police truck explained herself and her documentation indicating that she had an arrest warrant against María de Lourdes “N” for Child Detention.
While talking, María de Lourdes “N” happened to walk out of a building from where she boarded her car and left. Police perused her vehicle, finally arresting her on Avenida Fonatur.
According to the SSC report, the girl was 11 months old when she was taken. She is now 13. The woman accused of her abduction is a paternal grandmother.
In a statement, the Secretary of Citizen Security reported that “during surveillance patrols on Fonatur Street in block 523 in Cancun, elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security made a stop to support a woman who was making signs for help.
“She informed the police that she had located her daughter, who was taken when she was 11 months old and is currently 13 years old, presenting the collaboration documents issued by the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office for the search and location of persons.
“In addition, she indicated that she had an arrest warrant against María de Lourdes “N” for the crime of Child Detention. This woman was just leaving a building, boarding a red Renault Duster vehicle, so she was caught on Avenida Fonatur between Almendros 156 south Street and Maple.
“When carrying out the inspection, her name was confirmed on the Mexico platform through 911, showing that Mrs. María de Lourdes “N” has a common jurisdiction warrant with a valid arrest warrant for the crime of Child Detention issued on October 6, 2020 in Mexico City. Therefore, she was seized, as was the vehicle.”
