Judge sentences mastermind behind Cancun murder of Cuban woman to 25 years

Cancun, Q.R. — Omar Fernando “N” has been sentenced to 25 years for 2021 murder of a Cuban woman. On Wednesday, the State Attorney Genera (FGE) said he had been sentenced for “qualified homicide against a female victim of Cuban nationality.”

The deadly shooting happened on November 27, 2021, when, according to the FGE, Fernando “N” instructed two males to ride a motorcycle to her home in the Haciendas Real del Caribe subdivision of Cancun where they shot her.

“Once there, they went to the victim’s home. One of the occupants of the motorcycle shot her repeatedly with a firearm, causing injuries that took her life,” the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said.

A Cancun judge sentenced Omar Fernando “N” to a prison sentence of 25 years in addition to paying a fine of 134,430 pesos, as well as payment for damages in favor of the injured party for 717,002 pesos for being the intellectual author of the qualified homicide, the agency explained.

A motive for the woman’s murder was not provided in their statement.
