Cancun Red Cross responds to over 2,500 service requests in first quarter

Cancun, Q.R. — The Mexican Red Cross out of Cancun has reported responding to more than 2,500 ambulance requests. Those figures, according to Amílcar Galaviz, Director of the Cancun office, were from the first quarter of this year.

He reported a total of 2,566 ambulance requests were responded to just in the city of Cancun over the last four months. He says last year, they responded to 11,782 services of this type, averaging 981 calls per month. He says while some months are busier than others, the Cancun office will likely finish the year with similar service numbers to 2024.

Galaviz says the Mexican Red Cross service is free, which is why citizens contributions are important. Fundraisers are used to replenish supplies and for ambulance maintenance.

“The ambulance services we provide are completely free and do not represent any cost to the patient when the ambulance is dispatched to treat them for accidents,” he stated.

Galaviz detailed that from January to March the Cancun Red Cross responded to 400 traffic accidents with injuries, 235 at-home injuries, 36 car-pedestrian accidents, 21 shootings and 16 stabbings.
