Cancun, Q.R. — Another club in Cancun has been shut down for offering illegal services. Over the weekend, police announced the permanent closure of a club on Bonampak Avenue and the rescue of 16 women.

The rescue was made during a search operation that lead to the removal of nine Cuban women, two Mexicans, two Venezuelans, two Colombians, and one Jamaican woman.
“During the execution of a search warrant at a bar, the State Attorney General’s Office, in coordination with members of the Navy, rescued 16 women, all of legal age, alleged victims of acts possibly constituting the crime of human trafficking in the form of prostitution,” police reported.
“The case was executed by investigative police officers assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crimes of Trafficking and Exploitation of Children and Adolescents at an establishment located on Bonampak Avenue near Superblock 6.
“At the scene, officers managed to rescue 16 women: nine Cubans, two Mexicans, two Venezuelans, two Colombians, and one Jamaican. They were performing sexual services for which they charged 5,000 pesos of which 3,000 went to the bar manager.

“Other activities included drinking with customers, charging 500 pesos for a drink, of which 250 pesos went to the manager. They also offered private dances, costing 250 pesos for three minutes; buckets of beer cost 600 pesos.
“After searching the area and rescuing the women, they were taken to the State Attorney General’s Office; meanwhile, the premises were sealed,” police said in a statement.
