Cancun, Q.R. — Employees of a Cancun beer truck were severely delayed in their deliveries Thursday after falling into a sinkhole. The large unit was waiting on a red light along 71st Street in SM 92 when it became stuck.

While waiting for a green light, the front driver’s side tire sank into the pavement, leaving the truck hostage in a city sinkhole. The angle was severe enough to have lifted the back passenger side tires off the road.
The angle also caused several packages of brewed products to slide out of the truck and onto the street.
City police, Civil Protection and Transit were called after the stuck truck began to jam noon-hour traffic. At the scene, authorities confirmed the vehicle had sunk into the roadway.
According to initial investigations, it is believed a water leak under the road created the soft spot where the truck sank. The beer company truck driver, 38 year old Cristian Joel “N”, said he and his copilot got a fright when their truck began to sink while they were waiting at the set of lights.

He said they both got out of the truck and ran to a nearby sidewalk fearing the road would open more.
Cancun Transit roped off the area and diverted traffic to alternate routes. They also requested a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the road.
