Cancun, Q.R. — Within the plan of collaboration between public and private associations, the State Strategic Projects Agency (Agepro) is working on a new entrance to Cancun.
The plan is to build a new road from the Moon Palace overpass toward the Huayacán Extension. Agepro head José Alberto Alonso Ovando says significant progress has already been made in the project.
The Huayacán extension will be toward the old Fonatur through an expropriation process agreed upon with the owners. There are also plans to extend a section of Huayacán to the former Miami Herald facilities on Colosio, he says.
The project is in the executive design stage, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) and the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).
These institutions have worked on the release of rights of way and on the development of the executive project in conjunction with the Secretariat for Sustainable Urban Territorial Development (Sedetus).
“Sedena is already finishing the bridge for the Maya Train at the Cancun terminal, so we are now moving forward with this new project,” said Ovando.
Another key project is the Chacmool Extension, which connects with Colosio Boulevard. He says several overpasses are being requested at strategic points such as in front of the Honda agency, in Residencial Campestre and on Chacmool Avenue itself.
