A Most Wanted in Quintana Roo returned to face charges after Merida arrest

Cancun, Q.R. — A Most Wanted for authorities in Quintana Roo has been returned to the state after being arrested in Merida. Uriel Alonso “N” is now in Cancun prison facing charges of extortion, murder and attempted murder.

State authorities have provided additional information since the arrest of Uriel Alonso “N” in Merida the day before. Police say he is facing charges of murder and extortion against a woman who had been paying him since 2018.

The woman, a business owner, made the regular payments by direct bank deposit for nearly six years after he threatened to kill her.

“The events for which he is accused occurred when, in June 2018, several individuals showed up at a business to demand payment for “floor rights” from the owner under the threat that if she did not comply, he would kill her. She had been paying them ever since.

“In December 2021, she was informed that she would have to contact a telephone number provided to her through which she was told that payments would be made through bank deposits, which she did in various accounts,” authorities said in an official statement.

Police have also said that “the now detained has a second arrest warrant for his alleged involvement in events possibly constituting the crimes of qualified homicide and attempted homicide in events that occurred on October 18, 2024.

“Three men were traveling aboard a car and were intercepted by a van from which armed men got out, including Uriel Alonso “N”, to take the victims to a dirt road where they were shot with firearms. Two of them lost their lives, while the third managed to survive.”

Police say that Uriel Alonso “N” was arrested shortly after the capture of his brother, Hugo Zuriel “N”, alias “Gemelo”, who was also considered a priority target of the Crime Atlas of Quintana Roo.
