Power out after large truck overturns and takes out poles along highway

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Tow trucks had to be called to upright a large cargo truck that overturned in a highway ditch outside Puerto Aventuras. The tow truck assistance was requested Sunday after the driver of the unit apparently fell asleep at the wheel.

In rolling his unit off the highway and into the ditch near Punta Venado, the truck managed to take out at least one power pole. Elements from the National Guard were first on scene, who in turn, called CFE.

Power in the area was down for several hours while personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission made the necessary repairs.
