Puerto Morelos emergency services support Cancun firemen in two vehicle highway crash

Cancun, Q.R. — Puerto Morelos emergency services assisted in an afternoon highway accident outside Cancun Thursday. Additional emergency services personnel were called due to a bus and industrial truck collision along the 307.

The accident was reported outside the city of Cancun approximately one kilometer before the Moon Palace Hotel. The Cancun Fire Department said when they arrived, they found a bus had colided with a dump truck.

The colission left the front of both vehicles destroyed and at least one power pole damaged. CFE personnel were notified of the accident and called in to deal with the damaged high-voltage pole.

Firemen were tasked with clearing the fluid spill across the federal highway. While both damaged vehicles hampered traffic, federal highway lanes heading south were opened since the bus and dump truck collided near the highway shoulder.

Bomberos Cancun did not report anything beyond minor injuries in the afternoon two vehicle crash. The driver of the truck was treated on-site and did not require a hospital transfer.

“A report of a vehicle accident was received via C5 on Highway 307 one kilometer before the Moon Palace Hotel.

“Upon arriving at the scene, Cancún Fire Department personnel identified a gray, 2014 Scania private bus that had collided with a dump truck. The driver managed to get out on his own and was treated on-site by paramedics from a private company, without requiring medical transport.

“Firefighters proceeded to disconnect the vehicle’s battery, clean up an oil spill in an area approximately 2 x 2 meters and request the presence of the CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) due to a damaged high-voltage pole, in order to eliminate any electrical hazards.
