Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A staff bus that caught fire outside Puerto Aventuras was reduced to ash early Sunday. The bus was heading toward Puerto Aventuras after leaving Playa del Carmen when it began to smoke.
Passing motorists saw the bus engine filling the interior full of smoke. Emergency services were notified of the highway fire early Sunday. Firemen arrived to extinguish the burning vehicle, which was quickly consumed by the fire.
The old Lipo personnel bus was not transporting any passengers at the time of the fire. The driver, the sole occupant, was able to get out in time. There were no injuries reported, only a total loss of the bus.
Firemen did not speculate on a possible cause for the blaze.
