Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Mexican Navy assisted cruise ship doctors with the medical evacuation of a man. The cruise man was diagnosed with malaria, fever and a low platelet count Friday.

On Friday night, personnel from the Mexican Navy met ship Harmony of the Seas off the coast of Isla Mujeres for the medical evacuation.
On Saturday, the Fifth Naval Region of the Navy reported “yesterday, naval personnel from the Search and Rescue Station (ENSAR) in Isla Mujeres evacuated a patient from the cruise ship Harmony of the Seas by sea aboard an MLB-103 vessel.
“This operation was carried out after receiving an emergency call from the Chief Officer of the Harmony of the Seas, which was 35 minutes from Isla Mujeres.

“The officer requested assistance in transferring an Indian male, diagnosed with malaria, fever and low platelet count, to Puerto Juárez.
“Therefore, an MLB-103 type vessel was immediately dispatched to the cruise ship to disembark the patient.
“Subsequently, a Defender BR-01 type vessel, with specialized naval medical personnel on board, transferred the individual to Puerto Juárez where a private ambulance met them and transported them to a local hospital for further specialized medical care.”
