Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — At least two people were transferred to hospital after being injured during a shooting Thursday afternoon. Police were called to a construction site at the end of Loros Avenue yesterday afternoon.
According to initial report, several armed men entered the construction site and opened fire on the workers before fleeing.
Others at the construction site requested assistance through 911. At the scene, police found two workers had been shot.
Due to the severity of their injuries, both were rushed to the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital in Playa del Carmen.
The area was secured while forensics collected ballistic evidence. Testimonies were also gathered from people at the construction site.
Sources close to the case say one line of investigation is a possible connection to drug dealing in the area.
Police have not announced any arrests.
