Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — National Guard were first on scene early Friday where a Playa del Carmen taxi driver was found dead.

The man was located inside his vehicle that was pulled over along the side of the federal highway outside the city of Cancun.
The cab was found after midnight on a stretch of highway between Playa del Carmen and Cancun. Emergency services were made aware of an abandoned taxi on the side of the road.
When authorities arrived, they found a dead driver inside his unit with a deep neck wound. His throat had been cut.
Personnel from the State Attorney General (FGE) were called in to collect evidence and start an investigation.
Police have not made any public statement on the death of the taxi driver. Authorities have not released the name of the deceased.
