Playa del Carmen police searching for gunmen in parking lot murder of rival gang member

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Police are searching for two gunmen responsible for the fatal shooting of a man in a Playa del Carmen parking lot. Irving “N” was left for dead Tuesday night after being shot numerous times.

Irving “N” was shot 8 times while standing at the back of his vehicle June 23, 2026.

The shooting happened at a shopping mall parking lot off Luis Donaldo Colosio Avenue in west Playa del Carmen. According to early information, Irving “N” was standing at the back of his parked vehicle when two armed men shot him.

He was hit eight times and pronounced dead at the scene. Municipal authorities arrived along with state officials, paramedics and National Guard in response to the 9:30 p.m. attack.

According to information gathered at the scene, the shooting is related to a dispute between rival organized crime groups. The victim led a criminal cell that operated in the In-House area in the extreme west of Playa del Carmen.

Forensics collect evidence Tuesday night from the scene of the crime June 23, 2026.

He was known to police and is reported to have had a criminal record. Local authorities continue their search for those responsible.
